USA played a bad card when they fired their coach and brought someone who has no credentials to lead on today's football world.
Bruce Arena only career highlights were as coach of the USA in 2002 WCFinals quarter finals. When the best generation and golden boy Donovan were playing.
He won few MLS cups(!??!!) ... Not an international class coach, he's a college coach
With all due respect of someone who follows football and supports MLS we can't be fooled thinking that a league that has no promoting and descending system can be considered a top competitive league in the world.
There is no way college kids can become world class players in enough quantity to form consecutive winning teams.
The secondary leagues will force teams to pickup players and form a base for the future.
We can't even beat the Central America clubs for the club World Cup finals every December in Japan and this year I believe in Saudi Arabia.
Sorry, but Bruce Arena is not a world class coach and whoever is deciding the future of the USA football has no knowledge of how to create a winning league.
Simply put these players are not good enough to compete at world class level of international soccer.
I am from Peru, and the simple fact of the matter is the USA relied way too much on a generation that really was not as good as people hyped them up to be. (The post-2002 Dempsey-Donovan-that other guy who's name I don't remember nor even merits a mention).
That and in the US, you get more local new coverage over NASCAR, a 'sport' that is literally just people driving really fast. (I'm not going to get in this argument about 'it is a sport because...')
You want change? Look at my country.
No. We don't have the best team in the world, nor Super Mega Superstars like Neymar or Messi or Vidal.
But our coach (Gareca) changed up many things, put down ultimatums to be met, and with that got rid of nearly a massive majority of our old, 'golden' generation players and with almost entirely new players, managed to get to beat a Suarez/Cavani-led Uruguay and pulled a shock 1-0 victory over Brazil that eliminated them controversially from the Copa America 2016.
Say what you want about Peru, but it is a fact our team is doing a hell of a lot better than yours.
It is time to get rid of your old players, time to market US Soccer much more because at this rate, you all are dooming yourselves to a 4 decade hiatus that was US Soccer from 1950 to 1990.
My country is on the verge of cracking a 36 year long hiatus. Two play-off games with weak New Zealand.
I am confident we have the potential to beat them. And if we do, that'll be our first world cup since 1982.
Best of luck, gringos, time to wait for Qatar 2022 and hopefully have a better team and far better coach than these incompetent nobodies.
Congrats to my beautiful country Trindad and Tobago you made us proud always
The veterans need to step down. Especially Bradley, Dempsey, Howard and Altidore. Thanks for all those great years, but it's time to move on.
"Disappointing"? Really, Bruce? That's how you would describe it? Because every other American would describe it as PATHETIC and nothing less.
Sorry Michael Bradly and Jozy Altidore. You're the veterans on this team and both weren't good enough in a must win. I don't want to see them anymore as automatic starters / captains / call ups anymore.
Bruce arena is trash
USA soccer is a joke all they care about is money. Talent is second
if bradley howard and Altidore were our best than we were never very good. time to actually develop players properly get them good enough so they don't have to play in the MLS
any chance the government didn't want 20,000 Americans wandering around in Moscow for safety concerns
Also if some how a team like Belgium was in the hex they would qualify without a problem maybe hit a bump against Mexico
A blemish? A blemish? NononononoNO this is bigger than a blemish and no you shouldn't at least walk out with a point it should of been all three against the team whos in LAST place
You didn't have the courage to fight back when Panama went after our future Christian Pulisic #10. And for that I will never forgive you Bradley and company.
I dare a Mexican to come talk shit, cause if it wasn't for the U.S. they wouldn't have gone to the 2014 WC.
Micheal Bradley has zero emotion in his voice. I really don't see how he continues to play year after year for us in that holding mid spot.
America, do yourself a favor: IF you want to improve, make everything you do for football FREE for ALL youth. Its no longer an elitist sport c.1889, especially because your not good at it.
Do you guys know that the the coaches for Mexico, Costa Rica, and Honduras are all Colombian! They all know each other and they all somehow qualify? Ghost goal included? Osorio's dumbass fields his worst starting 11 vs Honduras at home? I know he's a horrible coach but even then that was a fishy move. IDK about you guys but I think there is some funny business going on here.
fire Bruce plz
